The stupid power connector socket thingy has gone all wonky on my rev a clamshell!
I need to get it fixed but I don't want to send it to Apple. There's a guy local who can fix it but I don't really have the cash. I do have a G4 Powerbook ac adaptor that I can trade for repairs.
I hope the barter system isn't dead.

As much of an Apple lover as I am, I have a Clamshell that has a stupid power connector socket thingy issue, too. It has to be positioned just so or it will not work. The battery won't charge and —one false move —power's gone and you shut down. (It's also the third power adapter I've had for it, as the plastic in the spot where the cord connects to the plug tends to break open and the wires inside lose contact.)
I had to replace the power adapter on my TiBook 3 times in one year, (same type problem as the Clamshell's cord) and I guess they got sick of me calling for a replacement (still under warranty each time) and sent me one made with some kind of industrial strength plastic because this last one has held up for 9 solid months now with no signs of cracking in the reinforcement where the cord attaches to the plug. Yippie!
Despite these types of aggravation, I wouldn't trade my Macs for an army of PeeCees.
Good luck!
