The two criteria I have is that it must be easy and it must sound good. The only box that fits the bill for me is the Sola Tonebender. You've heard it, Jimmy Page uses it on the first 2 Led Zep albums.
A picture of the build shows it's pretty damn simple.
And the schematic is almost simple enough for me to read.
I'll probably get some help from an engineer at work to make sure I'm doing it right.
Of course I could just get the kit from Build Your Own Clone... the Tonebender they have sounds pretty damn good.
